Symposium on Regional Cooperation: The Pathway to India’s Future Growth in a Changing Global Trade Order

The global trade order is undergoing a structural shift driven by geopolitical realignments, supply chain diversification, technological disruptions, and rising protectionism. Traditional multilateral institutions such as the UN and WTO are finding it harder to respond effectively to evolving challenges, while plurilateral forums like the Quad and BRICS, though valuable, are yet to fully address emerging issues and gaps. In this changing order, regional cooperation is becoming a valuable pathway for sustaining growth and stability.

To discuss on various aspects of the India’s future growth, with a focus on regional cooperation, Chase Advisors organised a Symposium on ‘Regional Cooperation: The Pathway to India’s Future Growth in a Changing Global Trade Order’.

This Symposium brought together thought leaders from government, academia, industry, and thinktanks to explore different perspectives on various pillars of the changing global trade order.  The session was honoured by presence of ShriHarsh Vardhan Shringla, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Former Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to the USA, Bangladesh, and Thailand, and Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency in 2023 as Keynote Speaker. The esteemed speakers who participated in the panel discussion included Ajay Srivastava, Founder, Global Trade Research Initiative; Dr. Geethanjali Nataraj, Principal, International Trade Policy, Confederation of Indian Industry; Dr. Biswajit Nag, Professor and Head (EMPD), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Asit Ranjan Mishra, Economic Affairs Editor, Business Standard. The discussion was moderated by Kaushal Mahan, Senior Vice President, Chase Advisors.

The Symposium discussed what India, and the wider APAC region must prioritise to enhance regional cooperation and build a resilient trade future in a period marked by geopolitical, supply chain, and technological realignments. The speakers underscored that in this evolving global landscape, India must maintain balanced and respectful relationships with all partners to fully realise the benefits of regional cooperation.
